In Rabat, three taxi drivers chased a VTC driver at the Rabat bus station last Thursday, sparking indignation among local residents. Immediately, the Rabat city police intervened to put an end to this indescribable disorder. All four individuals involved were arrested and then taken into police custody.

Tensions between taxi professionals and VTC drivers are recurrent. At the beginning of December, a violent altercation between a taxi driver and a driver of a VTC reservation application broke out near a luxury hotel on Avenue des FAR. At the origin of this violent brawl, a disagreement born from competition to take care of passengers in this very busy area. The altercation affected a Russian diplomat and his wife, witnesses of the scene. They had booked a trip via the application to get to the hotel. In the process, the police intervened to defuse the situation.

In Morocco, the provision of passenger transport services via modern digital applications and platforms without authorization constitutes an activity contrary to the laws and regulations in force. In November, the Popular Movement group in the House of Representatives submitted a bill to regulate this type of transport.
