It will soon be easier to make calls from Whatsapp. Meta’s social network will in fact reduce the constraints on contacting friends.

A new beta version is available for Whatsapp, and this one adds a feature that users have long awaited. The social network, which belongs to Meta (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) will in fact facilitate calls within its mobile application.

Concretely, a new icon will soon appear when you want to make a call (via the “Calls” tab), and will provide access to a classic dialing interface, such as can be found natively on iOS or Android.

A call without going through your contacts

This may seem futile, and yet it is nevertheless a small revolution for the very popular communication platform. Because until now, Whatsapp required its users to first integrate the user they wanted to call into their contact list, and therefore their directory. The social network then takes care of checking whether he actually has an account. If it did not have one, we could then create a specific “link”.

But with this new feature, this will no longer be mandatory. You can directly call someone by typing their phone number.

Whatsapp will allow direct dialing – Whatsapp

Currently, this feature is still in beta. This development could therefore be deployed in the coming weeks, or even the coming months, for all users.

Recently, Meta also rolled out a visual evolution of Whatsapp, with a design based even more on the iconic green color of the instant messaging application. The navigation bar has also been changed, while dark mode is now darker, as requested by users depending on the platform.
