Latuquoise Chantal Fortin will officially close the books of her career at the SADC du Haut-St-Maurice this Thursday, June 27, after 27 years spent working for this economic development organization. During the annual general meeting of the SADC du Saint-Maurice, the announcement of his retirement was made official.
Ms. Fortin is associated with the economic development of La Tuque, as were her father Jacques and her uncle Gaston over the last decades.
No wonder that after being hired by the former general director, Julie Pelletier, for a one-year mandate, she remained there, one thing leading to another, for all these years. In 1997, she joined SADC to manage the self-employed assistance program. When the program ended, she took the helm of Youth Strategy to help young people start or acquire their businesses. Her mandate continued under different hats including that of director of financial services which she held in recent years.
Skilled in communicating with the public, this grassroots woman has an ability to build relationships with people and easily manages to make the often complicated world of corporate finance accessible to ordinary people.
“I was introduced to this a little by my father and my uncle too,” Ms. Fortin does not hide. A woman of challenges, she announces right away that she does not necessarily want to leave the job market, but intends to stay present to continue her involvement in a different way. In what form? She is giving herself some time to think about it.
On four occasions, the one who is also a musician at the Harmonie de La Tuque held the general management of the organization, when bosses had to leave. She never set out to get this position permanently, but she always put her hand up to hold down the fort when the situation called for it.
His fondest memory? Without hesitation, she evokes the proximity with the people of La Tuque, Mauricie du Québec and the SADC network with whom she also collaborated. As the main element, Ms. Fortin undoubtedly remembers the camaraderie she maintained with all those who knew her.
