Pixel 8: Google extends its warranty in the event of a screen problem

Google continues to evolve its repair policy: on a support page, the Mountain View firm announced an initiative aimed at extending warranty coverage for Pixel 8 owners experiencing screen problems such as vertical lines persistent or flickering. This decision comes following recurring reports of these types of issues affecting certain devices.

To qualify for this extended repair program, your Pixel 8 must be identified as eligible by Google or one of its authorized repair partners, via designated IMEI or serial numbers. Eligible users will be entitled to a three-year extended warranty from the date of original purchase, including the possibility of free replacement of the defective screen. Please note that this program does not cover damage resulting from screen cracks or liquid immersion.

Google recommends that users back up their data before any repair work and enable repair mode in the phone settings to ensure the privacy of their personal information. In parallel with this extended warranty, Google has entered into a partnership with iFixit whose objective is to offer users the possibility of purchasing original spare parts and accessing detailed repair guides, thus facilitating DIY repairs (Do It Yourself).

The Californian giant adds that any screen repair carried out during these three years will be guaranteed for 90 days. This initiative echoes Google’s commitment to product sustainability, with software tracking extended to 7 years, while encouraging a responsible approach to the management of electronic devices.
