We recently reported on leaks about the upcoming Z6 III full-frame camera which launches on June 11 with many performance and feature improvements, including better autofocus, better image stabilization in the body and faster burst speeds. If a new teaser from Nikon is to be believed, it looks like the Z6 III will instead launch on June 17, although there’s reason to believe the aforementioned specs might be more accurate.

Nikon’s teaser, titled Ready to Perform, on YouTube (embedded video below) features a handful of photographers using the upcoming full-frame camera, with subsequent quotes to highlight the camera’s strengths.

“I could capture before I even pressed the shutter. That’s a game changer.”

“In a bright situation, if I see better, I can create better.”

“All the beautiful colors in such a small device, it’s something really exciting.”

Of these snippets, the first appears to refer to Nikon’s Pre-Release Capture feature, while the reference to a bright situation could allude to a brighter rear screen or viewfinder. The third quote confirms that the Z6 III will at least roughly retain the relatively compact size of its predecessor, continuing the trend of small-body full-frame cameras that Panasonic recently responded to with the launch of the Lumix S9.

The performance updates appear to confirm that the Nikon Z6 III will feature the updated dual Expeed 7 processor from the company’s flagship z8 and Z9 devices.

It remains to be seen whether other announced features, like in-house ProRes RAW recording, 6K NRAW, and updated IBIS, will come to fruition. Luckily, we won’t have to wait too long, as Nikon will make its announcement on June 17 at 8 a.m. ET (12 p.m. GMT) on its YouTube channel.

The Nikon Z6 II is still available on Amazon for $1,596.95.
