Intel Arc Battlemage desktop GPUs could be revealed in December 2024

Some time ago, an unknown Intel dGPU appeared on Geekbench based on the Battlemage architecture. It packed 12GB of VRAM and its performance was comparable to an Arc A770/GeForce RTX 4060/Radeon RX 7600. Other specs include 20 Xe cores and a 2.8GHz boost clock. Weibo leaker Golden Pig Upgrade claims we could see it in action next month.

The leaker uses the phrase “wonderful performance”, probably to make fun. It could also be a teaser. Regardless, we can expect to see new Intel GPUs for desktops next month, before AMD does the same AMD and Nvidia unveil their offerings at CES 2025. Intel could also officially introduce the dGPU Battlemage and follow them up with a real launch later, similar to what he did with Lunar Lake.

Now the question is whether they will be able to stand up to either of these companies. Only time will tell. Another leak revealed that Intel has two desktop Battlemage GPUs in the works. The one mentioned above (BMG G21) is designated as an entry-level SKU. Its higher-end counterpart (BMG G31) will likely pack more VRAM (16GB) and hopefully go up against Ada Lovelace/RDNA 3. Intel is banking heavily on Battlemage, as its successor, Celestial, might not see the day if he fails.
