Portable batteries are very practical for recharging your smartphone or tablet on the go. But 10,000 mAh with power coming out, go 60 watts in USB-C, you don’t have all the power you need to power a laptop to play its favorite games.

And in China, for two years, there has been a new category of products that has exploded: these are huge batteries, which we call power plants. There were the specialists, like Bluetti and EcoFlow, then the other brands are getting started. After DJI, it’s Asus ROG.

Asus ROG has decided to enter the market for giant portable batteries, capable of providing enough energy to power a fairly demanding computer. Its battery is called: ROG Mjolnir.

A battery inspired by Norse mythology

The ROG Mjolnir is the name that the Taiwanese manufacturer has given to its new giant portable battery. And this name was not chosen at random, since it is directly inspired by Norse mythology, with the short-handled hammer of Thor, the god of thunder.

The idea is to show that the ROG Mjolnir is a powerful and robust battery, capable of accompanying gamers everywhere, even in the most extreme conditions. And for this, Asus ROG has pulled out all the stops in terms of technical characteristics.

With two USB-C ports, one of which can provide up to 100 watts of power and the other can provide a maximum of 65 watts of power, as well as three USB-A ports that can charge devices up to 10 watts each, the ROG Mjolnir can easily be transformed into a gigantic device using a power bank.

But that’s not all, since Asus also installs four sockets that can be used to power, among other things, a gaming tower and a monitor.

The battery of 768 Wh would provide enough energy to power a high-end gaming computer for an hour (with a GeForce RTX 4080), via one of its four electrical outlets. It is also an LFP battery, which is great in terms of lifespan.

The ROG Mjolnir also has a large screen that can show details about current charging processes and the hammer’s remaining battery charge.

But that’s not all, since the ROG Mjolnier also includes a Qi 2.0 charger integrated to charge smartphones wirelessly, while the hammer handle can be removed and used as a flashlight that charges automatically in the base. Enough to be prepared for all eventualities, even in the event of a power outage.

There is even a socket which allows, in theory, to plug in solar panels.
