Nothing new on the photo side: Apple retains the single 12 Mpx sensor with wide-angle optics (f/1.8).

Main wide-angle module: 12 Mpx, f/1.8, eq. 26mm

Compared to the iPad Air released in 2022, we see a nice improvement in the quality of photos day and night. Daytime shots are better exposed, the sharpness is much better and we note a much more natural colorimetry, with the absence of these bluish tints which characterized the photos taken with the previous model. Also in low light, if the shots remain messy, we can still distinguish some details. The images are nevertheless noisy, but the small elements turn out to be better reproduced and the whole much more usable.

Front and video module

On the front, the iPad Air 13 (2024) uses the 12 Mpx (f/2.4) module present since the previous generation. Selfies are of good quality despite the lack of practicality linked to the tablet format. The sensor is also useful during video conferences with the Frame function which allows you to follow the user so that they are always in the center of the image.

This module also allows you to film in HD up to 60 fps. On the back, on the other hand, it is possible to shoot up to 4K at 60 fps. The rendering is correct, but once again the bulky and difficult to handle format will not allow you to become the next Steven Spielberg.
