European 100m hurdles champion Cyrena Samba-Mayela may not defend her French champion title this Saturday, June 29 in Angers. The 23-year-old, who is now training in the United States, is unwell.
“The Federation doctor will make a decision on Saturday morning”
“Back from the United States, Cyrena arrived ill in Paris, specifies a press release from the Cyréna Samba-Mayela team. As a precautionary measure, an antigen test was carried out and was positive for Covid 19. Consequently, his participation in the elite French championships is currently uncertain. In accordance with the regulations in force, we will go to Angers tomorrow morning (SATURDAY)where the Federation doctor will decide on the possibility for Cyrena to participate in the French championships. We want to assure you that we are doing everything possible to take no risks, either for Cyrena’s health or that of the other participants and the public.”

The 100m hurdles heats are scheduled for 6:40 p.m., with the final at 8:05 p.m.
