New revelations released Friday on the scandal which shook the St. Gallen police in August. The regional police chief was driving with two percent alcohol in his blood when he caused a road accident.
The head of the St. Gallen regional police who caused an accident in August had more than two per thousand of alcohol in his blood. It also appears from the criminal order of the public prosecutor that the 63-year-old man must pay a fine of 5,400 francs.
Analysis of the blood sample collected revealed a blood alcohol level of at least 2.05 per thousand. The police officer knew before getting behind the wheel that he had consumed alcohol.

In addition to the fine, he must also pay the procedural costs of 1,650 francs as well as other costs. The probationary period is two years. The police officer admitted the facts. The penal order has not yet come into force. It was Blick which revealed the information on Friday.
At the beginning of October, the canton announced that the chief would leave the cantonal police at the end of January 2025 and take early retirement. In August, he crashed into several trailers on a company’s property with his private car. Since then, he has been on sick leave. (sda/ats)
