Will connected rings replace our watches?

More and more companies are launching into the production of connected rings, serious competitors to smartwatches. We were able to meet members of the Circular company during IFA 2024 to learn more about the market.

Connected rings have recently become a real trend. These are attracting more and more users, but also large companies which are launching into the production of their own models. This is the case, for example, of Samsung, which recently launched its Galaxy Ring.

During the IFA 2024 show, we were able to meet members of the Circular company. The French company specializes in the development of connected rings designed to guide us in improving our quality of life. She is also a pioneer in the field since she has been working there since 2018. Their Circular ring is above all a healthtech product which offers several usual functionalities as well as some innovative elements such as artificial intelligence to analyze our health and give us advice.

The rings have all the classic features like tracking your sleep, steps, pulse, blood oxygen saturation, etc. We are a company that focuses enormously on well-being, and as it is an object that easily has between three and six days of autonomy, the goal is to wear it continuously so that artificial intelligence can know you better and better and recommend behavioral changes to improve your sleep, your physical energy, your stress… The particularity of our ring is that we have an integrated vibrating motor which allows you to do intelligent waking up, guided breathing, coherence exercises, having alerts if your pulse is too high or your saturation too low.”, explained Laurent Bsalis, co-founder of Circular.

If these rings are becoming more and more popular, it is thanks to their great practicality, they work in conjunction with a mobile application and do not require anything else. These tools are also much more comfortable than a watch, especially for sleeping, and certain functions can also be more precise by analyzing different parameters from the veins of the fingers. Thanks to this simplicity and comfort, many users could turn to these new devices rather than preferring a connected watch.

With these few years of expertise and market study, the co-founder also gave us some details on the state of the sector currently: “I think it’s a market that is still small, but which will grow enormously. We still hear big figures, I believe that Samsung has sold between five hundred thousand and a million since their launch. These are impressive numbers for a tech product.”.

Despite the arrival of very large competitors who have much more resources, Circular members are confident about the future of the sector. These new products benefiting from more aggressive marketing will make connected rings known to a wider audience. The competition will be tough, but the company is trying to stand out as best it can by offering features that the big players don’t yet have, such as the importance of artificial intelligence or their vibrating motor.
