The Moondrop MIAD 01 has been fully revealed in China. It’s the brand’s first audio-focused phone, and it has a handful of features aimed at audiophiles. Among them, the two headphone jacks located on the top of the smartphone. One is 3.5mm and the other is 4.4mm, balanced, https://www.boxcast.com/blog/balanced-vs.-unbalanced-audio-whats-the-difference. The first offers an output of 2Vrms, while the balanced socket delivers 4Vrms.

Additionally, the audiophile Android phone is equipped with a dual four-channel MasterHiFi DAC from Cirrus Logic. Moondrop did not specify which model, but it could be the CS43198. Thanks to this, the MIAD 01 can offer a dynamic range of 132 dB and a SINAD of 118 dB. These numbers are often found in high-end portable DACs/amps (FiiO Q3 currently $85.95 on Amazon).

But the audio features don’t stop there. The Moondrop MIAD 01 has a dedicated LDO power supply and an independent six-gold layer circuit. It even offers a significant level of control with hardware-level DAC volume adjustments. The Moondrop Audio Center companion app also has DSP functionality https://www.soundguys.com/what-is-dsp-28013/. All these elements make the smartphone an excellent portable player.

Coming to the phone, Moondrop’s first smartphone is equipped with MediaTek Dimensity 7050 under the hood, a mid-range eight-core processor. This processor is paired with 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage and 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Although it appears that the MIAD 01 is only available in one configuration, it does have a dedicated microSD card slot. It allows you to expand the storage up to 2TB, which is more than enough to hold a large library of FLAC files.

On the back, the MIAD 01 is equipped with a dual camera. The primary sensor is a 64 MP unit, and Moondrop hasn’t specified what the secondary camera will be. This is probably a classic depth sensor. The front has a 6.7-inch OLED display and a 32-megapixel selfie sensor. This display has a resolution of 1080p, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and PWM dimming of 1920 Hz.

On the software front, the Moondrop MIAD 01 runs on the stock Android version, which promises not to collect data or show ads. Other features of the phone include a 5,000 mAh battery, a 33W fast charging system, and a 5Gbps USB 3.1 port. The smartphone is currently available in China for CNY 2,499 (around $345). Worldwide pricing and availability have not yet been confirmed.
