(Ecofin Agency) – Exploration operations were carried out by mining experts from the Chinese mining company Ganfeng Lithium Group, in collaboration with several local organizations involved in mining activities.

The Algerian Ministry of Energy and Mines announced in a press release that the results of preliminary exploration for lithium ore carried out in the wilayas of Tamanrasset and In Guezzam, two desert regions in the far south of the country, were positive .

These exploration operations were carried out by experts from the Chinese mining company Ganfeng Lithium Group, as well as by executives from the ministry, the National Company for Research and Mining (SONAREM), the National Agency for Mining Activities (ANAM), the National Office of Geological and Mining Research (ORGM) and the Algerian Geological Service Agency (ASGA), specifies the same Source.

They made it possible to “ discover signs of the presence of several mineral resources and rare earths such as lithium ore, wolfram, tungsten, niobium and tantalum “.

Quoted by the official press agency APSMinister Mohamed Arkab stressed that the exploration of this type of mineral constitutes “ one of the major axes of the mining sector development strategy » in Algeria, while calling on the Algerian-Chinese team active in this area to “ continue efforts to reach advanced stages and develop a clear action plan based on physicochemical studies of the surface and samples, with a view to launching and realizing a concrete ore exploration and processing project lithium “.
