Already available on Android, passkeys, this technology which aims to one day replace passwords, will also be available on iPhone for WhatsApp.
Since passwords, even with two-factor authentication, can easily be bypassed by clever hackers, we need to upgrade to something a little stronger: passkeys. WhatsApp already took the plunge on Android some time ago, and now it is also doing it on iPhone.
As a reminder, the passkeys, or access keys, are automatically generated by the device, and it is therefore not necessary to use an identification system in the form of a code, which is seen as a guarantee of security .
To use the passkeys, you will need to go to the WhatsApp settings, and to the “Account” option in order to be able to select the “Access key” functionality.
It was on X that Meta announced the arrival of the feature. It will also be possible to identify yourself using biometric data thanks to Face ID and Touch ID.
