Five departments are still placed on orange rain-flood alert on Tuesday October 8, Météo- announced in its 10 a.m. bulletin. These are the Alpes-Maritimes, Hautes-Alpes, Isère, Ain and Jura. Previously, Saône-et-, Loire, Rhône, Ardèche, Lozère and had been placed on orange vigilance. Monday evening, eleven departments were affected.

Fourteen departments affected Wednesday

But this heavy rainfall has, for the moment, had little impact on residents: in Bouches-du-Rhône, despite impressive rain early in the morning, firefighters reported that despite “some flooded cellars”there were no significant interventions. In the Alpes-Maritimes, heavily affected by flooding, particularly in , at the end of September, “no intervention related to bad weather” was not reported by the firefighters.

The prefect had ordered the preventive closure of nurseries, schools, middle schools and high schools in the department for the entire day of Tuesday. It was the first time that it had taken this measure since the passage of depression Aline on October 20, 2023, for which the department had been placed on red alert.

Furthermore, for the day of Wednesday, Météo-France has placed fourteen departments on orange rain-flood vigilance: Vendée, Loire-Atlantique, Maine-et-Loire, Deux-Sèvres, Indre-et-Loire , , Eure-et-Loir, Loir-et-Cher, , Seine-et-, Essonne, , Val-d’Oise and Ile-de-France .
