Quentin Fillon Maillet and Paula Botet took second place in the single mixed relay in Oberhof (Germany) this Sunday. The Finnish duo of Jakov Fak and Suvi Minkkinen won after a final, suspenseful relay.

Both winners this week in the Oberhof sprint, Paula Botet and Quentin Fillon-Maillet offered a suspenseful single mixed relay this Sunday. At the forefront throughout the race, without ever really managing to break away due to eight picks on the shooting range, the French duo went for a good second place, in front of the German public.

Victory therefore goes to Finland, for the first time in their history in this format. Jakov Fak and Suvi Minkkinen won in style, for five picks in total and five seconds ahead of the Blues at the finish. A success that Mink notably went for it in the last lap, finishing very strong so as not to see Paula Botet come back in ambush, in vain. The Tricolor, who won her first World Cup victory this week, delivered some very nice skiing throughout the race, but it was certainly lacking in the last hectometers to be able to get back on the Finn.

In front of its home crowd, Germany will be satisfied with third place, 28 seconds behind Finland. Justus Strelow and Selina Grotian also battled for victory throughout the race before losing their footing in the final shot, eleven picks in total. This is the first podium of the week for the German clan.

A satisfactory race for the French clan (best ski time) which experienced many twists and turns throughout the race this Sunday in Oberhof. Quentin Fillon Maillet got off to a good start in his first stint alongside the German duo. Paula Botet then took over to gain a little lead over her main rivals, with the presence of the Austrians and Slovenes in the first positions.

It was during the second men’s relay that Fak, for Finland, appeared at the head of the race, along with Quentin Fillon Maillet and the German Strelow. While the men were confident on the last shot standing, the last women’s relay was very close between these three nations with Finland in favor after the last shot.
