A Bruges executive refuses to play against Anderlecht

Club Brugge want to make a statement on Sunday evening when they visit rivals RSC Anderlecht. To do this, coach Nicky Hayen will have to move his pawns. Thus, Het Nieuwsblad claims that Andreas Skov Olsen refuses to play to force a transfer.

Already last summer, the Danish international seemed to be on his way out. But his disappointing European Championship and lackluster performance in Bruges failed to generate much interest. Just before the deadline, Feyenoord certainly insisted. But Bruges, who had no possibility of replacing him, did not cooperate at that time.

Personal agreement

Skov Olsen then suggested in the Danish press that he would remain attached to Club Brugge. He added, however, that his long-term intention was to return to work in a top European league. And the international now seems to have this opportunity.

In recent days, we have indeed learned that VfL Wolfsburg is making eye contact with him. And the Germans are indeed concrete. They have even already reached an agreement with Skov Olsen and his entourage on a personal level. On the other hand, at club level, it seems that we are still far from a breakthrough.

Skov Olsen under pressure

This weekend, Wolfsburg would have made a first offer to Bruges. But the Bruges club refused this offer. The Germans are said to have offered around 8 million euros. The club would aim for at least double.

An agreement is therefore not yet imminent. Skov Olsen himself did not seem to appreciate this offer. Thus, Het Nieuwsblad reports that the Dane refuses to participate in Sunday evening’s summit match against Anderlecht.

He wants to put pressure on the club’s management to reach an agreement with Wolfsburg. It remains to be seen whether he will succeed.
