The least we can say is that this 7th stage of the Dakar 2025 has relaunched everything in the general classification. Starting with a 7’16 lead over Yazeed Al-Rajhi this Sunday morning, Henk Lategan saw the Saudi come back to less than a minute at the finish line. At the end of this 419-kilometer special, the South African only has a 21-second margin over his runner-up! However, he once thought he was doing the right thing for the day by gaining more than 15 minutes, but an incorrect note in the road book forced the race direction to adjust the times. Thus, a portion of approximately 20 kilometers was not taken into account in this loop around Al-Duwadmi.
Behind, the other pursuers also made up time from Henk Lategan. Third in the general classification of this Dakar 2025, Mattias Ekström, 2nd in this Sunday special, returned to 10’25 behind the leader. Same case for Nasser Al-Attiyah who scraped by almost 10 minutes this Sunday to be 21’57 from the lead at the end of the day. Mitchell Guthrie completes the Top 5 at 40’01. Mathieu Serradori remains the best French representative. The Frenchman is 6th, 54’20 behind Lategan.
Today’s stage went to Lucas Moraes and Armand Monleon. The Toyota duo recovered perfectly after the technical setbacks of the day before to score their first victory in this 2025 Dakar.
