Coby White, Chicago Bulls player, ensured his team’s victory against Victor Wembanyama’s San Antonio Spurs with a dunk over the Frenchman’s head on Monday evening.
This time, Victor Wembanyama was on the wrong side of the poster. The San Antonio Spurs lost to the Chicago Bulls on Monday evening (114-110) despite another good game from their French star (23 points, 14 rebounds, 8 blocks). Often seen as an insurmountable wall since his debut in the NBA, Wembanyama was however unable to stop Coby White at the very end of the match.
The Chicago guard (1.96 m) rushed to the circle and, with 16 seconds remaining and a single point lead for the Bulls (111-110), flew for a dunk by above “Wemby” (2,21 m), late defensively. The Spurs will not recover. “I wanted to dunk before he (of the flesh) arrives at the circle, White explained after the meeting. I knew that if I opted for finesse, he would have countered me.
The Spurs are in 10th place in the Western Conference (18 wins, 18 losses), the last car to access the play-in, a sort of play-off that allows them to qualify for the famous playoffs. Their next match is scheduled for Wednesday evening at the Milwaukee Bucks. Chicago is 10th in the East with 17 wins and 19 losses.
