Kevin Ferreira, alias “Kswiss” on the networksworks with big names in sport like Breel Embolo, Denis Zakaria, Clint Capela and Gaël Monfils. He puts his expert eye on the body-built physiques of movie stars. And gives simple advice for everyone in this time of good resolutions.
Is Paul Mescal’s body in ‘Gladiator II’ within anyone’s reach?
Yes, absolutely. Quite quickly even. Everything is relative, but you can get there in a year and a half, two years. It is a physique that is achievable by anyone, provided they dedicate themselves to their bodybuilding and manage their diet.
The stars follow a tailor-made diet. Is food one of the keys?
Of course. Training will send the signal to build muscle and we need to provide our body with the substance to do so. Protein intake is going to be very important, as is calorie intake. You have to have enough energy for everything to work well.
Are Hollywood stars taking drugs?
In the case of Paul Mescal, I don’t have the impression. Which could rather be the case in certain Marvel films, where the actors use anabolic products. For “Baywatch,” Zac Efron said he took diuretics (editor’s note: which have been on the list of doping products since 1988).
The goal here is to lose a certain amount of water, which will give us a slightly drier physique and therefore a more muscular appearance. Even if the amount of muscle does not change.
For Marvel films, the actors push the limits of the human body?
Exactly, like in “Thor” for example. We can assume that they used products such as testosterone, growth hormone, etc., which will accelerate this muscle recovery. With many negative effects, including the dysregulation of the body’s natural hormone secretions.
Are your clients asking you to look like those Hollywood models?
Hollywood physiques have always been a dream come true. When I was little, it was even more abused with Rambo, Jean-Claude Van Damme or Schwarzenegger. Sometimes it’s unhealthy, because we can compare ourselves to people who use anabolic products, but in other cases, it can be a good source of motivation. Like Paul Mescal for example. Who was already very sporty to begin with.

Without comparing yourself to these stars, what advice would you give to the average person at the start of the year?
Always set an achievable and sustainable goal. Too often, with good resolutions, we go all out. And unfortunately, we can’t hold on. We risk getting tired or injured. I start with the lowest training frequency: two basic strength training sessions per week. Then, you need to aim for a number of steps to take per day.
Just walk?
Yes, we know the 10,000 steps, but I recommend increasing the number of steps you take daily by 30%. This is what will allow us to increase this energy expenditure and burn calories in order to lose fat. The third pillar is having adequate nutrition.
