the essential
Bastien Burguière and Sophie Mazenc won the 12-kilometer trail, Sunday January 5, first round of the Challenge Aveyron.
“I came back to put my title on the line. It’s a done thing and done well! » Bastien Burguière can be satisfied with his move. A year after winning the Drainante, a 12-kilometer trail traced on the Causse Comtal near Sébazac, the Bozoulais did it again on Sunday January 5, crossing the finish line again as the winner. Leading almost throughout the course, he clearly won, with more than two minutes ahead of his first pursuer, Alan Combette.
This success therefore has an air of déjà vu but this time with a different flavor. Last year, the runner started on a whim, registering at the last minute with a friend. This time, he aligned himself with ambitions that extend further than the Sebazac event. “The idea this year is to play the challenge throughout the year. I would love to win it! », says the 27-year-old runner. To achieve this, he joined Boz sport nature, in Bozouls, in order to prepare himself as best as possible.
Bastien Burguière will, however, have to manage his schedule as best as possible. He is also a bowling player at the Bozouls club, in Excellence, where he teams up with his father Laurent, his brother Jérémy and Florian Sasso. “When the season starts, it will be priority to bowling,” he explains. I will try to take advantage of the races at the start and end of the year to score as many points as possible. »
Sophie Mazenc still has goals in mind
Tireless Sophie Mazenc. At 47 years old, this regular at Aveyron races has added a new line to her already well-stocked list of achievements, by winning on the Causse Comtal. She also stifled any suspense, by being more than three minutes ahead of her pursuers Solène Barbance and Marion Puech. All in a busy week, since she took part in the 10 kilometers of Cadaquès, Tuesday December 31.
Her program is not about to lighten up, because Sophie Mazenc is running this year after two major objectives: qualifying for the French cross-country championship and the French 10-kilometer road championship. The Aveyronnaise, now licensed in Alès, won this team title last year. “I decided to end my career with a more professional team,” explains the one who was dismissed for a long time at the Stade Rodez athletics. I wanted to discover things I hadn’t known, to confront adversity that pushes me to train even more. » Which suggests that she is not going to give up her habit of monopolizing the podiums right away.
