As if Montreal Canadiens fans didn’t have enough reasons to celebrate, Ivan Demidov has reached another level in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).
The jewel of the Habs, fifth overall pick in the most recent National Hockey League (NHL) draft, continued his momentum on Sunday with a goal in a sixth straight game as the St. Petersburg SKA hosted the Vityaz of Moscow.
And in a beautiful way, again. During the first period, the forward skillfully converged in the center of the ice to create space before letting go of a good shot. Watch in the video above.
He did it again in the second period by completing a pass and going with Sergei Plotnikov. These are Demidov’s 13th and 14th goals this season, in his 40th game.

Benched for no apparent reason on several occasions, Demidov was ultimately used extensively by head coach Roman Rotenberg, who promoted him to SKA’s first trio. The 19-year-old Russian has 11 points in his last six games. It makes you wonder how he would have stacked up this season if he had gotten a leading role sooner.
