Antwerp seeks to repatriate a former Red Devil

After barely six months, Ayrton Costa is already leaving for Antwerp, and the Great Old will therefore have to start looking for a new left back in January. To fill this void, number 1 would like to attract another (ex-)Diable Rouge to Bosuil.

Indeed, Marc Overmars and his team would have their sights set on Olivier Deman, sidelined at Werder Bremen. This season, the Red Devil with four selections, who is also no longer in Domenico Tedesco’s plans, has hardly had the opportunity to express himself. A solution is therefore self-evident.

Ask in Antwerp?

This is confirmed by Peter Niemeyer, Managing Director. “Everyone will think about their future during the Christmas period. It is clear that Olivier is not happy with his situation. If an interesting offer for us and for Olivier arises, we will work on it. But so far no one has approached us,” he told Bild.

The newspaper adds that Deman, who is still tied to Bremen until mid-2028, could leave because his salary is too high for someone who is not in the game at all. The number seven in the Bundesliga would therefore be ready to discuss a loan or a permanent departure. Subject to an offer in line with the market, it is true.

A good deal for Overmars

The market value of our 24-year-old compatriot, snatched from Cercle Bruges for four million a year and a half ago, is still estimated at around three million. To prevent his price from collapsing further, Werder would like to get rid of him as quickly as possible.

A situation from which Antwerp could benefit. According to the newspaper, Overmars has already probed the conditions of Deman, who also wants to get some fresh air. For the moment, however, the interest would not yet be concrete. In addition, the Germans first want to find a replacement for the left back. To be continued, no doubt.
