CF Montreal announced on Friday the recruitment of German midfielder Fabian Herbers, who signed a contract for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
Herbers played the last six campaigns with the Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer (MLS). He scored 15 goals and amassed 15 assists in 152 games, including 105 as a starter, with the Illinois club.
Aged 31, Herbers was drafted by the Philadelphia Union in 2016. He played his first 53 games on the circuit with this team.
“We are pleased to acquire Fabian, an experienced player who has played more than 200 matches in MLS,” said CF Montreal president and CEO Gabriel Gervais in a press release.
“He is a versatile player who can play as a central midfielder or in a more advanced role behind the striker, and is known for his work ethic and team play. He is a veteran who will be a good example for the young players on our team. »
Herbers does not occupy an international position within the team, since he is a permanent resident of the United States.
