Mercato: here is why FC Barcelona could lose Dani Olmo for free this winter

Joan Laporta had until Tuesday to convince La Liga to agree to the registration of his two players. To do this, it was necessary to find the necessary funds (60 million euros) which will allow the club to comply with the financial fair play rules of the Spanish league. The total payroll and expenses of the Catalan club are in fact too high in relation to its generated income. However, Dani Olmo was able to join Barça last summer for €60 million only thanks to a six-month waiver to be able to play with the Catalan club, due to Andreas Christensen’s long injury. This exemption is coming to an end.

According to the Catalan newspaper Sports Worldit is expected that 100% of seats will be sold by this Monday. Which would not only allow Olmo and Víctor to be registered, but also to return to the famous 1/1 rule (one euro generated equals one euro spent) which would even open up interesting prospects for the winter transfer window. Otherwise, both players will no longer be able to play for Barça in 2025. The club initially hoped to be able to extend the waiver, by “using” the injury of goalkeeper Marc André Ter Stegen to their advantage, but this solution was refused by the president of the Spanish commercial court.
