TDF. Tour de France – Jonas Abrahamsen: “I had a lot of trouble coming back…”

Tireless Jonas Abrahamsen ! The Norwegian took the polka dot jersey at the end of the first stage of the Tour de Franceat the cost of great effort. The resident of the training Uno-X Team was not a member of today’s breakaway, but managed to join the fugitives at the front by stopping for more than a minute in around ten kilometers. A hell of a raid rewarded with the tunic of the best climber, because the winner of the Cycling Brussels Classic this season still had the strength to take the lead in the Côte des Forche and the Côte de Barbotto. Although he finally collapsed 41 kilometers from the end, he now has 13 points in the mountain classification, two more than the Frenchman. Valentin Madouas (Groupama-FDJ).

“It’s crazy, I’m very happy”

“The plan this morning was to go in the breakaway, preferably with Odd Christian Eiking, tell Jonas Abrahamsen. After many attempts he couldn’t be there and I tried to make up for it. I had a lot of trouble getting back to the front and I was very tired. Fortunately, I started to feel better soon after and the rest went pretty well for me. It’s crazy. 2 years ago I weighed 58 or 60 kg, and now I weigh around 80 kg and I climb better than when I was lighter. I am very happy with the result because I feel stronger every year. Tomorrow (Sunday) is a difficult stage, but maybe I can be part of the breakaway to score points and keep this polka dot jersey to keep for a few more days. I’m very happy to be able to wear a Tour de France jersey.”
