Swede Glenn Nyberg was appointed on Friday by UEFA to referee the round of 16 of Euro 2024 football between Belgium and France, scheduled for Monday in Düsseldorf.
Nyberg, 35, has already managed two matches in this Euro: Romania/Ukraine (3-0), in the Red Devils’ group, and Albania/Spain (0-1). An international since 2016, the Swede is officiating for the first time in a major international tournament, but has already managed seven Champions League matches, including the quarter-final first leg between Arsenal and Bayern Munich this season.
Nyberg will be officiating a Red Devils match for the first time. The Swede has refereed two Genk matches in Europe: against Dinamo Zagreb in the group stage of the 2021/2022 Europa League (1-1) and against Olympiacos in the 3rd round first leg of the Europa League qualifiers in August 2023 (1-0 defeat).
