HIGHLIGHTS

Fairly beaten by the Toyotas in the previous time, Andreas Mikkelsen reacted immediately by setting the best time in one of the most pleasant and entertaining special stages of the rally! Upon arrival, the majority of drivers spoke of a crazy special stage with narrow bumpy roads in the forest at very high speed.

Behind the Norwegian, we once again find the Evans/Rovanperä duo, and the three leading men are grouped together in just 2s2. Still in the top 4 of this special, Adrien Fourmaux is for the moment perfectly defending his place against Sesks and Neuville. The latter only took back five seconds from the Latvian on the morning loop.

In WRC2, Kajetan Kajetanowicz, then brilliant 2nd at home, went off the road during the last part of the special. Sami Pajari took the opportunity to take off, more than half a minute ahead of Estonian Robert Virves. Between Virves 2nd, and Pierre-Louis Loubet 5th, everyone is grouped together in just eleven seconds.

PILOT REACTIONS

O. Thank you 10:57.9	I tried to get into the rhythm. I didn’t ride much yesterday, it takes a little time to get used to it. Little by little, the driving is now improving. Not completely satisfied with the car. The engine does strange things.
T.Katsuta 11:07.0	I didn’t manage to get good grades, so it was difficult. The conditions are pretty good.
T.Neuville 11:01.5	I’m riding fast, but it’s very difficult to say how hard you can push. New stages, new grades. There’s no reason to take unnecessary risks. We went up a bank once, it was a bad grade. We’ll check that.
G.Munster 11:04.7	This one is very fast. It is very narrow between the trees in the forest, you have no room for error. There are also some hidden junctions, and in some of them I had too much speed. This special is my favourite on the calendar.
A.Fourmaux 10:57.0	It’s a crazy special. We laugh because it’s really flat out everywhere. Even in the bends, it’s crazy.
M.Sesks 11:01.6	It was really fun! The weather is good. I see in some places that I am too fast or too slow. It is like a roller coaster in my head, so I have to create a system in my head to fix it. We still have two days left!
E.Evans 10:54.9	I don’t think it’s enough, especially at the end. Otherwise it was pretty good. There are still better things to do next.
K. Rovanperä 10:56.2	Time is not enough. We need to be much faster. We are happy to now be at the end of the loop. With this little preparation, it’s so scary in fifth gear all the time.
A. Mikkelsen 10:53.8	The pace is high and we are trying hard. I was flat out. I was a bit cautious in the last three or four corners, that’s the only place we lost time I think. It’s a good fight, I love it.
S. Pajari	It was a pretty good morning. I managed to have a pretty good pace in all the stages. It’s very tight, but it’s okay.
PL.Loubet	Complicated special. In some places I was a little slow. On some peaks you don’t see what’s behind. I was too careful.
N. Gryazin	I’ve been trying to work on my driving precision, but I feel like it’s not working. We’ll see if I have to go back to my old driving style.
