With two weeks to go until Paris Saint-Germain resumes training, the club has made another crucial decision regarding the future of its squad. Sergio Ricowho returned to training at the end of the season after a serious accident in May 2023, will not see his contract extended. According to information from France Bleu Paris, the Spanish goalkeeper’s contract will end in two days, leaving him free to sign with the club of his choice at the age of 30.

This decision marks a new stage for PSG, which has already seen Keylor Navas and Alexandre Letellier leave. The club seems to want to clarify its situation at the goalkeeper position with a strategic reorganization. Gianluigi Donnarumma (in discussions for an extension), who currently occupies the position of number 1 goalkeeper, will now face new competition.

To strengthen its squad, PSG has signed Matvey Safonov, a 24-year-old Russian goalkeeper, for a five-year term with a transfer estimated at 15 million euros, plus bonuses. This chosen goalkeeper will provide solid competition for Donnarumma, adding depth and competitiveness to the team. The young Spanish goalkeeper Arnau Tenas, for his part, would remain the third goalkeeper.
