Two weeks ago, Philippe Diallo’s phone call surprised Pierrette Barrot. The president of the French Football Federation (FFF) gave him 48 hours to think about his proposal to appear on his list of 28 members for the elections of December 10 and 11, 2024. “I accepted after having taken the opinion of the vice-president of the Charente-Maritime District”, reveals the one who has been elected for ten years at the head of the departmental body and who also sat on the High Authority of football.
“To constitute his list, Philippe Diallo had for the first time the obligation to bring together 50% women. There are five District presidents on his list, which demonstrates a desire to be as close as possible to the territories and rural areas. He also plans to create a club advisory council. We can thus better help them and support them on a daily basis, particularly financially. »
Samsonoff, the other candidate
Several important people in French football make up Philippe Diallo’s list, such as Jean-Michel Aulas, Marc Keller or Aline Riera, former international and member of the FFF steering committee. “I am attentive to the simplification of the standards and regulations faced by clubs, as well as a new status for volunteers,” explains Pierrette Barrot. I want to engage with them through concrete and practical actions. The federal authority must be at their service. There is a lot to do at the societal level for solidarity actions, for the fight against all forms of violence and discrimination… We need to overhaul information and computer systems. »
In a desire to democratize and renovate the governance of sports federations, each of the 14,000 amateur clubs will have for the first time a number of votes determined according to their number of licensees. A second candidate is standing for election, Pierre Samsonoff, the former general director of the Amateur Football League.
