American Scottie Scheffler has just won his 6th tournament of the 2024 season. On the first extra hole he defeated the young and talented Tom Kim on the fairways of the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut.

Another impressive performance by the best golfer in the world right now. His opponents come one after the other. This week it was Kim. Before that it was Schauffele. And then there was the young Swede Aberg at the Masters.

Scheffler is dominating the 2024 PGA Tour season. His quality of play and the victories that are piling up are leading to comparisons with the best seasons in PGA Tour history.

Concretely, we are talking about 6 victories in 105 days (3 and a half months). His first win of 2024 came on March 10 in Orlando, Florida during the Arnold Palmer tournament. Then a week later, he did it again at the Players Championship. Two significant victories in a season, or even in a career. This was just the beginning for this American native of New Jersey.

The sequel is even better. On April 14, he puts on the green jacket awarded to the winner of the Masters Tournament for the 2nd time in his career (he also won in 2022). And a week later, he achieves a 2nd double in 6 weeks by winning the RBC Heritage Classic in South Carolina.

Already 4 victories for Scheffler and the month of April is not over yet! And the only one of the 5 tournaments he participated in that he didn’t win, he took 2nd place in the Houston tournament!

Scheffler takes a few weeks off to experience his first days as a father. Bennett was born a few days after the Masters. Life could hardly be better for this golfer with a unique swing: finishing the swing with his right foot in an unusual position. Unusual, but how effective.

Scheffler’s thirst for victory is still not satisfied and he collects his 5th victory of the season at the Memorial tournament (Jack Nicklaus’ tournament). Then last Sunday he wins the Travelers Championship. An absolutely incredible sequence.

It is therefore not surprising to see and read all these reports and articles comparing Scheffler’s season to that of Tiger Woods in 2000. That season, Tiger had won 9 tournaments including 3 majors. The legend of Tiger Woods was then at its peak. Tiger was being fought over and it was said that we were seeing at work perhaps the best player in history.

Far be it from me to tell you today that Scottie Scheffler is the best player in history. On the other hand, he is currently accomplishing what very few players have achieved in history. Scottie Scheffler’s 2024 season is already exceptional and… it’s not over.

Obviously we are completely elsewhere compared to the Tiger 2000. Almost a quarter of a century later, Scheffler is truly the first player who reminds us of the Tiger of the good old days through his domination.

Admit that right now, when Scheffler is entered into a tournament, you believe in his chances not only to be among the leaders, but to win. This simple thought is incredible in itself. We are in an individual sport, in the best circuit in the world, and every time Scheffler is there, we think he can (that he will) win!!

Scheffler has played 15 tournaments so far this year, making the cut 15 times and finishing in the top 10 in the standings 13 times. He admits to being better on the greens this season. Scheffler changed his putter early this year. The lethal weapon is called TaylorMade Spider X… the tool is one thing, but it takes a good driver, too!

Scottie Scheffler does not hesitate to give credit to those around him. I like it when athletes distribute congratulations to those around them. Scheffler’s caddy, Ted Scott, is recognized as one of the best in his profession. He and Scottie make a great team. Plus, they seem to be having fun on the field.

I’m curious to see how this magical season ends. There’s one major left (The Open), a few regular season tournaments and then the FedEx Cup playoffs. Scottie Scheffler has become an attraction wherever he goes and we’ll hopefully see him in action at Royal Montreal for the Presidents Cup at the end of September.
