The Dutchman took a test run at the wheel of an Acura ARX-06 LMDh prototype prepared by the Meyer Shank Racing team. A racing beast which notably won the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2023.

After listening to the advice of Acura driver Colin Braun who explained to him how to use the machine, Verstappen completed several laps at high speed at the wheel. “Max was very impressed, it is true that this Acura is very special to drive”summarized Colin Braun.

Max Verstappen appreciates closed cars. He has notably been seen testing GT3s recently and frequently takes part in endurance simulator races. He has never hidden his desire to compete in the real 24 Hours of in the near future. On one condition: the ACO and the FIA must resolve the question of weight equivalence in Hypercar in order to erase the advantage of jockey physiques over taller and stronger drivers.

“I weigh 80kg helmeted and dressed when others are at 60kg or even 55kg”, the Batavian told us a few months ago. “This can cost you several tenths of a second per lap at Le Mans. Suffice to say that heavy pilots have no chance against boys like Yuki for example. We must therefore resolve the question of weight. There must be an average or minimum weight to be respected per crew.

What if Acura/Honda chose to arrive in with a certain “Mad Max” in its ranks? For many, that would be a hell of a combo!
