The junior boys’ basketball team from Clauzades college won third place in the French championship which took place in Saint-Brieuc.

The young athletes delivered matches of a very high level throughout the competition, dominating their entire group matches against the academies of Grenoble, Nice and Versailles, thus giving them direct access to the quarter-finals against Rouen.

The solidarity and the great collective of the Vauréens then allowed them to triumph.
In the national semi-final, they faced the college of Roanne which was favorite, until then inflicting on their opponents more than thirty or even more than forty points. After a perfect start to the match, the players were more than motivated and the baskets came easily.

The experience of their opponents allowed them to come back neck and neck throughout the match. The very low percentage of success on free throws cost the Vauréens a place in the final following a defeat by a small point with a score of 57/56. This was a final before its time. Despite this narrow defeat against a formidable team, they were able to remobilize to get third place against the opponents of the very first match, winning despite fatigue by 55 to 33.

This superb result rewards the efforts made by the basketball players throughout this school year. Under the leadership of their PE teacher and coach Christel Thauziès, they demonstrated an exemplary state of mind, combining talent, determination and team spirit. A special mention for Mattéo and Sam who played their roles as young coach and young referee wonderfully.

These young ambassadors carried the colors of Lavaur high on the national scene. Congratulations to the players making up the team: Mattéo Pierre-Jean, Noé Albinet, Timéo De Vivo, JulesCaurier, Benjamin Terlier, Ilan Touboul, Yanis Djebbar, Sacha Passérini, Corentin Grégoire and Sam Guinaldo as a young referee.
