The students of the Larreule school inaugurated their book box, installed at Place Eugène Ténot, which offers a whole range of children’s literature from a very young age.

This Monday, June 24, the students of the Larreule school proceeded to the inauguration of their book box in the presence of some parents, their teachers Marie Arnold and Catherine Adolphe and the mayor of the town Maurice Dussollier.

Installed under the entrance porch of the village hall, Place Eugène Ténot, this book box offers free access to a whole range of children’s literature from a very young age.

It is the fruit of a long cooperative effort initiated and led by their mistress, Catherine. The students immersed themselves in boxes full of books and imagined this welcoming place, open to the world through reading: “We wanted to make it like a magical island, a little world of books where you feel good, like a quiet and welcoming bubble, comfortable and colorful.”

They worked together all year in a collective and interdisciplinary effort to complete this beautiful project. They worked in an eco-citizen spirit by recycling old shelves that were sanded and repainted and by designing a structure from pallets that they arranged to form a platform decorated with a planisphere with the most beautiful effect. A success for sure.

Their wish now: “May this book box last a long time, may people come often, may they like this place and may many books be read, discovered, appreciated, exchanged, shared… thanks to their book box!”

A book box to open up to the world through reading…
