Soon it’s time for the “CNN presidential debate” between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. The first face-to-face between the two candidates for the White House is broadcast live on LCI on the night of Thursday June 27 to Friday June 28 from 3 a.m. It will be followed by a debrief until 6 a.m., presented by Guillaume Cérin, with our international editorialists: François Clémenceau, Margot Haddad, Gallagher Fenwick and the United States specialist, Jean-Éric Branaa.

Strict rules

Millions of Americans will have their eyes glued to their screens for this high-tension debate between the Democratic president and his Republican predecessor. The two men will debate in Georgia, one of the most contested states of the election. Their duel, starting at 9 p.m. local time, is expected to last 90 minutes. It will be moderated by two CNN journalists, Jake Tapper and Dana Bash.

Anxious to avoid the cacophony of the first debate of 2020, during which Joe Biden and Donald Trump spent an hour and a half insulting and interrupting each other, the channel adopted a series of rules supposed to regulate their exchanges. The show will take place without an audience and without a teleprompter. Joe Biden’s microphone will also be cut off when Donald Trump speaks and vice versa. A second debate is planned on ABC on September 10, two months before the election.
