It’s an extraordinary sporting and human adventure… Head to the heart of the Sahara in the Moroccan desert where the Marathon des Sables takes place, a legendary event which is open to people in wheelchairs for the first time. 9 crews are participating in this first edition

Portrait of Sofiane Rahmouni, who discovered the race. Not a great athlete originally, but in 2021 he found himself in a wheelchair following an illness that paralyzed his lower limbs. He takes on the challenge of doing the Marathon des Sables. It’s also a way to get closer to your roots. His family is of Algerian origin.

Pierre and Myriam Cabon had the idea for the disabled version. This couple was at the Bataclan during the attack in 2015. Pierre was hit by a bullet, which hit his bone marrow. He finds himself in a wheelchair. Their lives are turned upside down. Journeys and challenges, each crazier than the last, multiply, crossing New Zealand in tandem, climbing Kilimanjaro… Until the Marathon des Sables, tested last year. Realizing that it is possible, 55 km covered last year, they want to set up a disabled version, so that everyone can transcend themselves.

The 10 wheelchair crews will cover 50 km in three days… To reach the end of this adventure, logistics are essential… mutual aid, too. Focus on bivouac life
