The Coupe de France had several surprises in store during the 5th round matches this Sunday, with unexpected eliminations. Several teams from lower divisions created the feat by beating higher ranked clubs. In Burgundy Franche-Comté, Avallon, a modest Regional 2 club, pulled off one of the first surprises of the day by winning 1-0 against FC Montceau-Bourgogne, a resident of National 3. A hard blow for Montceau.

In Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Saint-Didier Espérance, also in Regional 2, brought down a National team, FC Aubagne, after a penalty shootout won 4-1, after a 0-0 in regulation time. A big surprise which already excludes a National team from the competition. Finally, in Auvergne, Clermont Métropole (D1) eliminated Brioude (Regional 1) in a spectacular match concluded with a score of 3-2. In addition, the ASM Football U20 R1s triumphed 3-0 against US Monistrol (R1), continuing their great adventure.
