Yanis Voisard failed to keep up with the best in the peloton. The Jura native did not reach the finish of the Tour of Lombardy on Saturday. The road cyclist competed in the last race of his season in the Classic of Dead Leaves. It was Slovenian Tadej Pogacar who raised his arms for the fourth time in a row in Italy. He won alone in Como after attacking 48 km from the finish.

After winning, among others, Liège-Bastogne-Liège, the Tour of Italy, the Tour de and the World Road Race in Zurich, Pogacar concluded a stratospheric season by winning the classic of the dead leaves. He crossed the line more than three minutes ahead of Remco Evenepoel, who tried to catch up with his rival, without success.

This seventh victory in a Monument, Tadej Pogacar also owes it to his teammates. In the ascent of the Sormano pass, Marc Hirschi, Adam Yates, and especially Pavel Sivakov, brought the peloton back to the breakaway and put Pogacar into orbit. As is often the case this season, no one was able to follow the Slovenian’s attack.

With this fourth success in a row, ‘Pogi’ equals Fausto Coppi, quadruple winner between 1946 and 1949. The Italian, however, won five times in the Tour of Lombardy. A record that should not last long against the Slovenian ogre.
