There is almost no doubt about Theate’s transfer

Last summer saw a number of Red Devils make transfers and there were a few surprises among them. That of Arthur Theate for example.

The 24-year-old defender briefly appeared to be heading to Saudi Arabia, but his move to Al-Ittihad was canceled just in time. He finally landed in the Bundesliga in mid-August, where Eintracht Frankfurt picked him up from Stade Rennais on a rental deal.

His adaptation in Germany is going very well, because Theate immediately became a regular starter. Since then, he has played six times in the Bundesliga and twice in the Europa League. He does it sometimes as a central defender, sometimes as a left back.

Theate impresses in Frankfurt

Frankfurt is doing well as a collective. The club held Bayern to a draw last weekend and collected thirteen points from their first six matches, which puts them in a good third place in the Bundesliga. Sky Sports indicates that they are therefore very satisfied with Theate in Frankfurt, both on and off the pitch. As things currently stand, they are therefore considering exercising his purchase option at the end of the season.

Purchase option possibly exercised

But Frankfurt may not have to do it itself. Indeed, under certain conditions, the purchase option will be automatically exercised. But this is only possible for the second half of the season, as these conditions will probably be linked to the number of matches played and other sporting factors.

If Theate finally joins Frankfurt, a contract until 2029 will await him. The German club will also have to pay at least 13 million euros to as transfer compensation.
