Yann M’Vila, a strained relationship with Stade Rennais, his training club

The journey of Yann M’Vilathe former French international, has been marked by ups and downs, particularly with regard to his relations with his training club, the Stade Rennais. Through a recent interview, M’Vila expressed his bitterness and disappointment at the attitude of the Breton club during a difficult period of his career.

An unjustified hassle: The story of refused aid

In 2015, after an unsuccessful loan toInter MilanYann M’Vila found himself without a club for several months, a period of emptiness which could have marked a major turning point in his career. At this point, he sought help from his former club, Stade Rennais, in the hope of receiving support or, at least, being able to train with the team. However, to his surprise, the club closed all doors, refusing to even allow him to train individually.

“When I talk about , I speak in the past tense. When I was in trouble and I asked them for help, the club was not there.”

M’Vila compares this situation to that of the Stade Malherbe , where Alexis Beka Beka received support to get back on track. According to him, Rennes missed an opportunity to show a form of solidarity towards a player who had given everything for the club during his first professional years.

An aborted return

In 2015, after trying to return to Rennes to train, M’Vila encountered an inconsistent situation. First encouraged by the reserve coach, Laurent Huardwho seemed favorable to his return, he saw the prospects collapse. A meeting with Philippe Montanier, coach of the first team at the time, still gave him hope, but ultimately he was informed that neither the first team nor the reserves were interested in welcoming him.

” At the time, the coach of the reserve team was Laurent Huard. I get along very well with him, so I called him to ask if I could come and train. He told me that there was no problem, that I wouldn’t play the games etc, but that I could train. Then I go to a match and I see the professional coach, Philippe Montanier. He doesn’t close the door either. Behind, they call me and tell me that the professional coach and the reserve coach don’t want it.”
