FIFA intends to set up a third transfer window, shorter than those of winter and summer, to allow the clubs participating in the next Club World Cup to strengthen themselves.

A third transfer market soon to be set up. This Thursday, Marca spoke about this hypothesis, which was finally quickly confirmed. It was FIFA, currently in full preparation of the new formula for the Club World Cup, which made this decision. The governing body of world football wishes, however, to implement a shorter window, compared to the winter transfer window, scheduled this season from Wednesday January 1 to Monday February 3, 2025, and compared to the summer transfer window. , which generally begins in mid-June, before ending at the end of August. This third transfer window would take place between Sunday June 1 and Tuesday June 10, 2025. This implementation would allow clubs, which will participate in the next edition of the Club World Cup, to be able to strengthen themselves before the start of this competition.

FIFA thinks about players at the end of their contracts

Furthermore, by introducing this new window, FIFA would hope that players, at the end of their contracts, would be able to extend a little longer than initially planned. Indeed, June 30, 2025, the end date of the contract for many of them, is right in the middle of the future edition of this Club World Cup. This measure would protect them and their clubs. This same measure had already been authorized, during the pandemic, by the governing body of world football. This Club World Cup will take place between June 15 and July 13, 2025, in the United States. This competition will involve a total of 32 training courses. The latter will have been the most successful of each of the six international confederations, namely the AFC, CAF, Concacaf, CONMEBOL, OFC and UEFA. This new formula continues to be criticized, in particular by players, complaining of an increasingly busy schedule.
