KHL: two horrible injuries in one sequence

Two HC Sochi players fell in combat during a single sequence of a Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) game, both suffering terrible injuries.

Following a faceoff in the third period, the puck landed on the stick of a CSKA Moscow defender. He let go of a powerful slap shot, which was stopped by the face of Denis Vengryzhanovsky.

The striker’s injury looked painful, but he escaped with a fair amount of jitters. It was a game behind him that particularly attracted attention. Danil Mokrushev fell headfirst against the skate of a rival who had just dived.
