Police officers were beaten up by around ten men in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône). A scene, filmed and broadcast on social networks, took place last Wednesday October 17. Police unions denounce daily violence accompanied by a lack of resources.
The video is playing in a loop on social networks. The images show police officers being attacked and beaten by several individuals. The events took place on Thursday October 17 at the Cité de la Castellane in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône). The police were then in the process of arresting a suspected dealer in this area known for harboring drug trafficking. Among the residents, few dare to speak out about the situation: “It’s lamentable, it’s really nonsense because if there are no police, we will all end up killing each other”deplores one of them.
Last March, in the northern neighborhoods of Marseille, an “XXL net square” operation was carried out to put a stop to traffic. Drugs, weapons and cash were seized and 120 people were arrested. Six months later, one of the six deal points would try to reestablish itself, according to our information.
The two police officers would still be very shocked by the violence of the attack. An investigation has been opened.
