To end a 13-year drought and succeed Mark Cavendish, the Great Britain cycling team has brought out a veritable armada for the 2024 road world championships in Zurich.

Medals expected on the chronos

Indeed, for the road race, the British will line up notably Tom Pidcock, Adam Yates, Simon Yates, Stephen Wiliams and Oscar Onley to go for the rainbow jersey that only two compatriots have won in history: Tom Simpson in 1965 and Mark Cavendish in 2011.

Pidcock, crowned cross-country mountain bike champion at the 2024 Olympic Games, will be a leader, as will brothers Adam and Simon Yates who are returning to the national team for the first time since the Tokyo 2021 Olympics.

Great Britain also has some great ammunition in the time trial in the person of Joshua Tarling, bronze medallist last year at the World Championships in Stirling (Scotland). On the women’s side, Anna Henderson, silver medallist in Paris, will also be highly anticipated in the time trial.
