The years pass, but one thing remains, Jean Pascal never seems to lack the resources to set the table for his fights.

Passing through the show 5 to 7 In view of his return to the ring after an 18-month absence, the Quebecer shared an ace up his sleeve for his duel against Terry Osias. We should rather say for the occasion: “an ace up his glove”.

Indeed, it might be hard to believe that Pascal could surprise a boxer who knows him well as he was once his training partner. The former world champion, however, shared that Osias is likely to be surprised by his punching power.

“Maybe he was doing well in training camp because it was early in the camp and in mock fights, normally boxers use 16-ounce gloves. In my training, I use 18-ounce gloves which is bigger,” he first explained.

“Saturday night Terry, it won’t be 18 ounces, it’ll be 10 ounces. There’s going to be a whole difference in the impact of my punches and that’s what will make the difference,” he added, showing his boxing glove.

Pascal was last in action in March 2023 when he lost an IBF elimination bout to Michael Eifert at light heavyweight. This time, he’s back with a plan to get into the conversation for a championship fight at light heavyweight.

“The 18 months of inactivity did me good. It allowed my body to regenerate better, I had a good rest and I had a good training camp. With a regenerated body, I feel ready for Saturday night.”

And don’t talk to Jean Pascal about the possibility of defeat. As he answered in an interview, he has two plans for himself: “to win and… to win.” If he still has the passion at 41, it’s because he wants his name to be on the first page of the history book of boxing in Canada.

“I want to solidify my name as the best boxer of all time in Canada. I want to be considered the best Canadian of all time.”

The veteran is also not thinking about hanging up his gloves. He ended the interview by emphasizing that he has in mind to beat Bernard Hopkins’ record and become world champion at 47. But before he gets there, he will have to defeat Osias at the Colisée de on Saturday.
