On Tuesday, October 1, theater and politician Pierre Curzi and his partner, actress Marie Tifo, will be in to take part in the International Day of Older Persons (IDO).

Marie Tifo was due to be present in person, but is no longer able to do so due to her pelvic injury.

Since this accident, the couple of actors have had to live with a new reality which affects many elderly people: that of caregiver.

This is also one of the subjects that the national spokesperson of the JIA will address during his presentation at the Théâtre des Muses on Tuesday, October 1.

Carole St-Denis, general director of the Table régionale de concertation des aînés de Laval (TRCAL) will accompany him on stage and they will both have an open discussion exploring the theme of the event: We, the elders.

“We want seniors to take ownership [la thématique] and think about its meaning, says the TRCAL general director. What I like about this theme is that we can finish the sentence ourselves and say: We, the elderswhat do we like, what do we want, what do we aspire to, what makes us happy, what are our challenges? It allows us to answer all these questions and also gives us a little moment to stop and talk about the positive. Aging is positive.”

Marie Tifo will also give a little nod to remote spectators, as she and her husband will present love letters written by Gérald Godin and Pauline Julien, in video format. This performance will most certainly be inspired by the dramatized readings that the duo performed at the Théâtre du Nouveau-Monde a few years ago.

The public will also be invited to speak at the event, to engage in discussion on both the issues and benefits of aging.

“We also need to talk about the beauties of getting older,” Marie Tifo reminds us. “It’s not just dark. It’s clear that we find that old age is also a beautiful time when we have a lot of freedom.”

The TRCAL will also take advantage of the JIA to announce the winner of the 2025 edition of the Seniors Tribute Award.
