A small ceremony without ceremony or protocol, for the distribution on Tuesday of a book to the students of Saint-Séverin by Patrick Gallès the mayor, and Sébastien Desage, vice-president of the Lavalette Tude Dronne community of communes. A ceremony that was repeated this week in the schools of Chalais, Montmoreau and Villebois. Imagine, 450 books! One per student in the CE2, CM1 and CM2 classes of the CDC schools. The enormous donation from Frédéric Berg, journalist at Charente Libre and publisher at Éditions Mons, gave the CDC the opportunity to launch the operation “A book for the start of the school year”. This sector of South Charente was not chosen at random by the publisher, firstly because he had already had the opportunity to work with the CDC LTD on the “Grand Trail” exhibition, but also because of the photos in the book taken of Montboyer, Saint-Laurent-des-Combes, Saint-Martial and Saint-Félix. Commented by texts by Myriam Hassoun, the book offered, “Mes voisins” by Philippe Giret, a repentant hunter, now on the lookout for sensational snapshots of the animals of the Charente countryside, focuses on “biodiversity”. It brings together photos of deer, does, wild boars, fox cubs or birds in their natural environment, such as ordinary mortals never have the opportunity to see them. Do they realize how lucky they are, these little Charentais who say “they have already seen them near their home”, but who nevertheless appreciate finding them on glossy paper to look at them at their leisure? There is no better thank you for the publisher and the photographer! Sébastien Desage took the opportunity to invite children and their parents to visit the media libraries of Chalais, Montmoreau or Villebois.
