A tribute from the heart.
Present in the colors of Toffees since September 2020, Abdoulaye Doucouré has not forgotten what makes us love a club: a crest, a jersey, fans and also a stadium. While Goodison Park, Everton's legendary stadium since 1892, will soon disappear to make way for Everton Stadium in the coming weeks, the native of Meulan-en-Yvelines will miss this place, as he confides in his notebook board published in The Team : « It hurts to know that this stadium will no longer exist in a few months. All the players who come here know that it's a special atmosphere. Me, I will always be a little nostalgic. Even though it's a very old stadium. Us, in our locker room, when you arrive, it's cold. There is no heating. Sometimes we freeze. But when you're inside, you feel the stadium alive, moving, vibrating. You hear everything, the supporters shouting, singing, laughing. And when you arrive on the pitch, you immediately want to play, with the supporters very close to the game. I will miss this stadium. Plus, it was less than a kilometer from Anfield. All this contributed to its beauty. It's true that the new stadium is magnificent, but it will not have the charm of Goodison Park. »
Yes, it's good to hear players share the same vision as us.
