Olympique Lyonnais could not do better than a 2-2 draw on the Hoffenheim pitch this Thursday evening. After a spectacular end to the match, OL immediately turned their attention to the derby. Several players spoke out.
Despite an important match in the European Cup, OL clearly chose to favor the derby and Ligue 1. Pierre Sage made a large turnover, going so far as to change his goalkeeper. In difficulty for an hour, the Lyon manager had to make four changes to immediately reverse the course of the match. The plan could have been perfect with Lyon managing to take the advantage in the final moments of the match. But in the last action of the match, the German club came to scratch the point of a draw.
OL turns it around and projects (too much?)
Evening captain, Maxence Caqueret spoke at the final whistle.
Maxence Caqueret (OL midfielder) : « We know this very important match for all the people of Lyon. It's going to be an interesting match to play. We will prepare and we will be ready because we want to win this derby at all costs! »
Pierre Sage (OL Coach): “We really wanted to manage this evening's match and that of Sunday to have two teams and freshness for this Derby which is a very important match for the People of Lyon, the Club and the team. I think we were in the right scenario. The changes really showed a contrast but I remain very disappointed by the result. It’s a big disappointment tonight.”
Lucas Perri at the microphone of France TV : “Derbies are separate matches. All players dream of competing in them. When I arrived here, that was the first thing that was mentioned to me: the rivalry, the history of this derby. It will be a great pleasure to play this match. We will go for victory God willing and enjoy it.”
