Olympique and Inter Milan are in discussions to prematurely end Valentin Carboni’s loan following a serious injury.

Valentin Carboniarrived at Marseille Olympic this summer after several weeks of negotiations with Inter Milan, sees his future in compromised after a serious injury. The loan, which included a purchase option of 36 million euros with a buyout clause of 40 million for Inter, could be canceled. The young Argentinian was seen as a big football talent, but recent events are changing that.

A difficult Marseille adventure

Upon his arrival, Carboni was hampered by a muscle injury which prevented him from starting the season as planned. His rise to power was slowed down by the good performances of Amine Harit, directly competing with him for a starting place. Ultimately, Valentin Carboni was unable to seize his chance before suffering the hard blow that occurred during the international break with Argentina.

A long-term injury

During training with the Argentine team, Carboni seriously injured his left knee, a cruciate ligament sprain which will require surgery. OM officially announced that he would be unavailable for an extended period, probably for the rest of the season. This hard blow therefore disrupts not only his first season in France, but also his short-term future with the club.

Discussions between OM and Inter

The Italian press, notably the Gazzetta dello Sportreveals that Inter Milan and Olympique Marseille are discussing the possibility of breaking the loan. Inter could recover the player this winter to supervise his rehabilitation in Milan, guaranteeing optimal monitoring of his convalescence. The file is currently under discussion, but it seems that OM will no longer be able to count on the player this season, making his future in France uncertain.

Do you think OM should break Valentin Carboni’s loan after his injury?

  • Yes, it is better that he returns to Inter for his rehabilitation.

  • No, OM should wait and see his recovery.

  • He should have had more chances before his injury.

  • This situation changes nothing for the Marseille club.
